Set up business categories and sub-categories
Group your items into categories like 'Drinks' or 'Stationery' so reports and filters make sense.
Open the Categories tab
On Smart Inventory, tap the Categories tab. This is where you build your own list of business categories.
Add a category
Create a top-level category (e.g. Drinks) and, if you want, add sub-categories under it (e.g. Soft Drinks, Juices). This forms a simple tree.
Assign it to an item
When you add or edit an item, pick its Business Category. This is different from the Item Type — category is your own grouping, type is product/service/raw material.
See it everywhere
Your categories then drive filters and the 'By Category' breakdowns in Analytics, so you can see which groups of products sell best.
