Products, services and raw materials — what's the difference?

Pick the right Item Type so stock, selling and production all behave correctly.

Choose the Item Type

When you add or edit an item, the Item Type field decides how it works. There are two choices: Product (physical goods) and Service (non-physical).

Product

A physical thing you keep stock of and sell — like a bag of rice or a phone. Products can track stock counts, locations, and reorder levels.

Service

Something you sell that has no stock — like a consultation or a delivery fee. Services skip all the stock fields.

Raw Material (production only)

If your business uses production/fashion mode, a Raw Material toggle appears in the item form. Turn it on for ingredients used to make other things (fabric, thread, flour). Raw materials are hidden from your normal selling screens and instead feed your production jobs and BOM templates.

Filter by type

On the inventory list, the All / Products / Services tabs let you view just one kind at a time. When production mode is on, a Raw Materials toggle beside the tabs shows just your raw materials.
